Sweet Sound of Laughter

I have decided to officially declare that Sepa has had his first laugh. He does a cute little 'courteous' laugh - which made it hard for me to decide if he really was laughing. It is a sweet little chuckle. He actually has done it a couple times, but this morning he did a good amount. I had just swaddled Sepa for his nap. He looked up at me, content and cozy. I talked to him and he did the little laugh for me. It was a sweet moment I won't forget. I thought it was appropriate to make that the official first laugh. It has been different from the other boys who laughed without mistake (Kekoa had a full laughing session the first time he laughed at 6 weeks!)
So, you might ask - what's the big deal? It is because in Navajo tradition such an event calls for a party! The idea is that you celebrate the milestone with a party to bring good fortune and so the baby will be giving all their life. A unique part of this tradition is that the person who makes the baby laugh gives the party and has a small gift for all those who attend. It's fun and I love any excuse to get together with family and friends and EAT!

PS. Kyle has informed me that he will start blogging : ) Yeah!

Michele,
Kylee had a good hard laugh at six weeks too! It was Halloween night and her grandpa Wilson was holding her. He started tickling her and all of a sudden she just burst out! She did it over and over. I was in the other room and since mother's know the sound of their babies, I knew it was one of mine, but not Madelyn. It hit me that it was Kylee and I jumped up and ran in there. I couldn't believe it!She was my earliest laugher. Caleb has a little curtosy laugh too. It's more of a giggle, but so cute. By the way, It was really good to talk to you on Saturday!
