I finally got out the bin of summer clothes this week and we found Kekoa's old Laker outfit - he wore this all the time last year - luckily it still fits him. He was so excited to see it. He said, "Now Daddy can come and he can play basketball with me!" Kyle will be happy to see him in this - especially with the Lakers doing so well this season. Go Lakers!
This was before nap time - I had gone downstairs for a minute and came back up to this - so cute I had to grab my camera (Kaika was suppose to be in his own bed reading books). Celeste said she heard Kekoa say, "Kaika, you wanna lay by me and we can hide from mommy?" Of course Ikaika said, "Yeah!"
To help the boys get through the week, Kyle left a small present for them to open each day with a little note. They were really not much - like a small bag of Cheetos, but the boys love it. One of the bigger presents was a well needed pair of shorts for the coming summer days. Since Kekoa loves his jeans so much (the kid sleeps in them even) Kyle got him jean shorts. I despise shorts on boys that are too short and so I told Kyle to get Kekoa a size up. Kekoa was so excited when he opened the present - but today when he actually tried it on he changed his mind. It was a little big and Celeste pointed it out. He corrected her and said, "No, I think they are too small Celeste." After all they did only make it to his calves. I told him that he could just take them off and he agreed and said, "Yeah, these pants are dangerous." Where does this kid come up with this stuff? So funny. I guess we'll be going back to the superman outfit soon.
Kyle left to Florida for a work conference yesterday morning - it already feels like its been forever. We have been trying to stay busy and distracted visiting with family (my sisters and their boys), watching Horton Hears a Who at the dollar theater, running errands and keeping busy, but we still miss him like crazy. I took a quick snapshot before Kyle left for the airport.
On Friday we tried to do a little craft project (inspired by what we saw on Barney). It is a cute owl made out of a brown paper bag, cupcake holders and construction paper. I was planning on making one for Kaika and I as well, but we only made it through one. The rest of the time was spend with the boys cutting up the construction paper into tiny pieces. Just to help you imagine what it was like - they spent almost a full hour cutting and I think they have a great future in the confetti business - darn, I should have took a picture of that artwork...
A couple days ago I sent Kekoa upstairs to pick out some pj's. When he came back down, he showed me that he had found some of his Cars big-boy-underwear. He fell asleep that night holding them. The next morning he declared he wanted to wear underwear instead of his diaper. So we did it. He did great for the morning - going potty in the toilet bowl. That afternoon I had to take Sepa in for his 4-month check up and I put pull-ups on Kekoa for his nap. He decided he didn't want to preform for my sister, who was watching him, and after going in his pull-ups my she put a diaper back on. When I came home I told him it was okay and we could try again "tomorrow." He said , "No mom, I want to try again today." So we went back to the underwear and he has done great ever since! I tried to put a diaper on him last night for bed, but he refused the diaper and finally agreed to some pull-ups. I think our day has finally come to have him potty trained. And, just as our pediatrician said - it has happened in just about a day. (Let me just say to those of you with young children - Let the potty training come when they are ready - much easier to just be patient than have weeks of "accidents." - I'm a believer).
Sweet, sweet Sepa - four months already? His head is now strong enough that he is back in the teacup bum first. I love the smile on this one.
