celebrations

We didn't get to celebrate much for Kyle's birthday and our anniversary.  We moved out on Kyle's birthday and couldn't really celebrate.  I felt so bad that he didn't even have a cake this year.  Our anniversary came and went as well.  But we are grateful to be together. We are grateful for each other, our children and the way in which our family is growing : )

closing

We officially sold our home today. Now the madness of trying to get out of the house. We'll finish up tomorrow. Right now I am too tired to think straight. But we did hear good news that we'll be able to close on the Cedar Hills home next week. Blessings.
I'll update when I can. My access to internet may be non-existent for a while.

takin' a break

On Monday the boys and I took a break from packing and headed to a nearby playground. The boys loved it and I enjoyed sitting in the cool shade watching them.
After a while Kekoa and Ikaika had their fill of slides and decided to venture onto the set of rings that led from one side of the jungle gym to another. Ikaika bravely found his grip on the first set of rings then let himself come off the secure side of the jungle gym to where he was dangling completely in the air. After a second he let go and jumped safely to the ground. Now that may not be on the top end of the scale of dare-devilish things for a little boy to do, but for my reserved boys it was pretty exhilarating and Ikaika yelled, "That was awesome!" He quickly ran around to try again. Kekoa decided to try, but as my most reserved child, he need me to help him the first couple times. After some serious encouragement from me, he finally did it on his own. His exclamation was my favorite, "Yes! My brain works!" I had a good laugh.
The boys continued to play that game for a while and even developed a system of taking turns jumping off different ends. After a while Ikaika stopped and sat on the edge of the jungle gym, folded his arms and began to pray, "Heavenly Father, Thank you that we can come to the playground, thank you that I can be safe and not fall . . . " Then he took his jump. Kekoa again caught on and they both started saying a little prayer for safety before every jump.
It was fun to watch and observe the boys. I thought that maybe somewhere I am doing something right.

Dedication

Because of some wonderful friends in our ward, Kyle and I were able to attend the Oquirrh Mountain temple dedication this morning. Not only was I able to enjoy the time next to my husband with no crying kids, I was also so thankful to not feel sick during the whole dedication. It was wonderful. I felt the sweet peace of the temple as soon as I walked in the doors and heard the prelude music. As we waited, we saw a variety of video shots of inside the temple. One of the things I love the most of the structure of the temple is how so many things inside and out draw your eye heavenward. Without a doubt the temple is the connection between heaven and earth. I loved the talks that were given and felt a desire to get back to the temple again soon (I haven't gone for a while because of my morning sickness). Elder Bednar gave a wonderful talk and shared several heartfelt reasons for why the temple is important to him. I couldn't have agreed with him more on each of his points. My favorite one: The temple is important to me because it means I can be with my family forever.
I love the temple and am so thankful to live in an area where the temple is so near.

These are a few of my favorite things . . .

The boys favorite things that is . . .

1. Dogs . . . Kekoa has been bugging me for a dog for several weeks now. It is so sad how desperate he is to have one that I am sometimes tempted to give in. But it only takes one thought of who will really be it's caretaker to sober me up right quick. So we appease them the best we can by getting them stuffed animals. Here is Ikaika and his cute puppy.

2. Climbing, jumping, wrestling, flying, fighting . . . enough said.

3. Building things. Kekoa especially loves to create castles, camps, forts, etc. Ikaika loves to tag along.

4. Playing with each other. Yes, I do my fair share of refereeing and there is constant crying throughout the day (usually Kaika -poor thing), but overall these two are becoming the best of friends. It is so cute to watch.

Here is one of my favorite things . . . my three boys. This was when we went to Kanagroo zoo a couple weeks ago when my sister was in town. My adorable boys : )

Visiting

Not wanting to jinx anything, I am going to wait until our official move-in day to post a picture of our new home. Things have worked out so beautifully, I am worried it is a dream.
Yesterday, the kind owners of the home allowed us to come back for another walk through to show our boys (we did not have them with us on our first walk-through). Kekoa was more than giddy as we pulled up to the house. He loved looking at where his room would be and the back yard. But most of all he was excited to see the basement. We had to keep reminding the boys that we were buying the house and not all the fun toys they saw. But all too soon they got comfortable and we had to leave before they decided to start jumping on the couches.
As we left we were more excited and certain that we had not only made a good choice, but have been blessed so kindly to have everything work out the way it has. And my biggest concern about moving to Cedar Hills was eased when we timed the trip from UVU to be less than 20 minutes (17 to be exact). With more blessings in the next couple weeks, we will begin this wonderful new chapter of our lives. We are thrilled to experience it.

Our New Home

On Wednesday we went out for a few hours looking at homes. And we found it. It already had an offer that was being countered, so we only had a small window to give our own offer. Happily, they accepted ours. So, now in a whirlwind of a week we are moving to Cedar Hills. Crazy. But happy.
So, now I can finally crack down on packing since I know what we are doing.

Yesterday, I was preping the boys for our new home. I told them about the rooms and where they would sleep. Kekoa thought it was so cool (all he really wanted was a house with a basement). And then it a cute way of showing me his acceptance of this huge change, he drew me this sweet picture. So, drumroll please . . . introducing our new home:

Discovery Museum

A few weeks ago we went to visit the Discovery Museum (I am finally posting about it weeks later. Sad). It was something I had wanted to do in celebration of Kaika's birthday. But with no cousins living around us we decided to wait until someone came into town. The first chance we got we headed over. It was fun for the boys. They enjoyed "discovering" all the little areas. It was cute to watch. Here are a few of the pics I grabbed while following them around.

Above: We were so happy to have Kono come with us. The boys love their cousin.

Above: One of my favorites was watching the boys load and unload these hay bales. Koa got dressed for the occasion.

Fun stuff.

Coming Clean

FIRST: Though it is true we put our home under contract, the not-quite-true part is that we don't need to be out by the end of the month - we have to be out by the 20th! A little crazy considering we have no idea where we are going as of right now. It is less than 2 weeks away. We'll put our stuff in storage and find a temporary place. So if anyone knows of a place that might work for us please let us know. Help . . .

SECOND: This is from the actual email sent out the the UVU campus.

From: "President Holland"
To:
Subject: Appointment of the Assistant to the President

Friday - August 7, 2009 8:51 AM

After considering many excellent candidates from a very diverse pool, I am appointing Kyle Reyes to the post of Assistant to the President. In this role, Kyle will assist me with a number of critical functions in the office of the president, from communications to special projects, with other specific duties evolving over time as needs dictate. Kyle comes with an outstanding track record at UVU as a thorough and talented professional. He has facilitated some tremendous successes — such as the Latino outreach initiative — and has demonstrated a keen instinct
for creativity and problem solving. These traits will serve him well as he assists me, and the University, in this new capacity.

I am so happy for Kyle.

LASTLY: Okay - probably the one driving everyone crazy - the twins. Well, I am not having twins, at least not that I know of. But we are having number 4 (HOORAY!!!). So, the cat's out of the bag and I can finally complain about how terribly sick I have been. It's been easily twice as bad as the pregnancy's before (might as well be twins). But we are excited to grow our family . . . and if being this sick means it's a girl, I'll only take one please (kidding of course).

So there, I've confessed.
